An 18-year-old hacker, Arion Kurtaj, involved in leaking development footage of Grand Theft Auto VI, has been sentenced to indefinite confinement in a secure hospital facility.

Kurtaj, diagnosed with autism, was deemed a high risk to the public due to his strong desire to continue cybercrimes. He will remain in the hospital prison until doctors determine he's no longer a threat.

This sentence differs from a traditional life sentence as it hinges on a medical evaluation, not a set time period.

The ruling comes after Kurtaj exploited Rockstar Games' security system, leaking over 90 videos. Astonishingly, he achieved this after his initial arrest and laptop confiscation, using only an Amazon Fire Stick, hotel TV, and phone.

Kurtaj belonged to a hacking group, Lapsus$, implicated in various cyberattacks targeting companies like Nvidia, Microsoft, and phone carriers. Rockstar estimated the leak cost them millions and countless staff hours.
